In 2000, the output value of food additive industry in China was about 20 billion yuan, and the output of major products was nearly 2 million tons. The export volume of some products (such as saccharin and citric acid) accounted for more than 90% of the global total trade volume.Food additive industry has become an important export industry of fine chemical industry in China.Among them, the internationally competitive products are sodium benzoate, citric acid, acetic acid, lactic acid, VC, saccharin, monosodium glutamate and sweetener.According to China Biological Industry Development Report 2006, there are more than 1,500 food additive manufacturers in China, with 1,600 varieties of products. Many varieties occupy an important position in the international market. The annual production capacity is about 4 million tons, the output is about 3.25 million tons, and the output value is about 35 billion yuan.Due to the rapid development of food industry and catering industry, as an essential food additive in food processing and catering industry, it has also gained a better development environment and conditions.By 2010, 1,837 food additive manufacturers in China had obtained production licenses.
